(AsiaGameHub) –   The proposed Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026 would also prohibit sweepstakes casinos.

US.- Legislation to legalize igaming in Washington DC has been introduced by Councilmember Wendell Felder. Along with legalizing online gaming, the Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026 would ban dual-currency gaming options and sweepstakes casinos.

Felder maintains that residents are already participating in online slots and casino games through offshore, unregulated sites. He remarked that without a formal legal structure, these platforms function without adequate consumer safeguards, regulatory oversight, or age verification, creating hazards for the public and restricting the District’s ability to intervene. He noted that the scale of this current activity is quite large.

Felder stated: “This bill represents a realistic, data-driven strategy to bolster consumer protections, update our gaming laws, and capture tax revenue that is currently leaving the District.”
